Maki Oh's S/S16 collection was designed with blessed hands and Ejiro Amos Tafiri's eponymous brand delivered designs that gave us the glory!  Tafiri is a product of the Fashion Focus Program, a joint initiative between LFDW and the British Council, which grooms promising young designers for professional success through mentorship and training initiatives. Proof positive that LDFW is growing the Nigerian fashion industry from the ground up, Tafiri produced a Roman Catholic inspired showcase to an adoring crowd, complete with burning incense and prints reminiscent of stained glass. Other designs featured soft, cloud-like folds of lace and delicate headscarfs that brought to mind biblical references of the angellic prophets of ancient times.  Tafiri didn't stop at a simple reference to the ancient trend of Roman robes and collars, rather she raised them and made them new in the form of free flowing kaftans and color blocked maxi dresses.  What is most amazing about this collection is that it is as artful and symbolic as it is wearable; two things that aren't oft accomoplished in one collection.  Check out a few of my favorite pieces from the collection below:
